Parties

Our friend, James, turned 21 this month and had an 80s party. Mark dressed up as Rambo while I put on lots of make-up and a short skirt.

For Mark's 30th birthday he didn't want a party. Well, I couldn't let this go, so I decided to throw him a surprise party. We had a total of around 55 people to come - it was quite cool! I didn't have a camera at first and these are the only pictures I have right now, but I will load some more at another time.

Tigers...

Hello from Africa! As you all know I have spent this past month working (Been great!) Here is a picture from a weekend this month. We went with Nick and Belinda to the Snake and Reptile Park (ewww) where there are more than just reptiles (YEA). The Sunday we went there was a baby tiger that people could get a picture with. Is it not the cutest thing?!?

New Job

Sorry for not many updates...I tell you - being newlyweds with 2 teenage children is quite taxing! We are now back home from staying with Simon and Rebekah Oosthuizen for 3 weeks. Neil and Colleen had a fun time in Egypt, Jerusalem, Jordan, etc. but they were glad to get home. After 3 weeks of more driving and carpooling than we've done EVER Mark and I came home and pretty much slept the day away on Sunday. We have a new appreciation of our home and having our own space.

Well, most of you have probably heard by now that I have a job!! YEA!! I will be teaching 3 classes of 8th grade Math and 2 classes of something else - not sure exactly what. I am taking a part time teacher's job, but with a full time position, so they are creating 2 classes for me from other classes. It will probably still be Math, but it might be 9th grade or something. If you want to look at the school's website, you can see it at www.northcliffhigh.co.za I"ll try to take pictures sometime because the website doesn't really do it justice. It's kind of neat - there are a few teachers there that taught John, Mark, and Belinda - so I am already hearing interesting stories... I formally start on June 1, but I will just be helping with exams and marking the exams after they are finished. I will be teaching beginning on July 16 after mid-year break.

I think that is all the news I have for now. Hope everyone is doing well, and I'll try to do a better job of keeping this site updated. Love to all!!!

Tagged...

So, I've been tagged by Kim to tell why I blog. Well, I was asked by Suzanne to start blogging so that we could keep up with each other a bit better. It has been really cool to see what Kim and Suzanne have been up to since the wedding. I hope others (like Fran :-) ) start to blog soon.

Inside

Here are some pics of the inside things at our house - our bedroom furniture and our new closet/cupboard - sorry that one is a bit fuzzy, but I can't quite get a clear shot in the small space.

Quick Pics...

I'm not going to write much - our connection does not seem to like blogging. Here is our new carport and before and after pictures of some of the paving.
This is where Joey's big cage will go.
This is where our wendy house will go to get it out of the middle of the yard.

Update from SA

Well, not much new on this side of the world. We are still working on the house a bit. Mark and I put together our new cupboard for my clothes. The only problem is that one of the three doors had a pretty nasty scuff mark which is at almost exactly eye level for me, so we have called Builder's Warehouse and they will come switch that one out for a new one on Friday or Saturday. Also I went to the American Embassy here on Tuesday and applied for my new passport in my married name. Mark was at a client's office, so I got a map out, found out where I needed to go, and went! I was proud of myself. Our carport should be finished tomorrow. I'll have to get Mark's cameral out to take a few pictures since mine has not been working - I'll go get that fixed soon, too. Our bricks for the new paving outside should be delivered on Friday, and that exercise will begin next week. It should take about 8 working days - I told Aureen I may have to move in there for a few nights if it got on my nerves! Probably won't have to, but it's nice to have the option. After that is complete, Cinnamon will be able to move in finally. Well, not much other news - so I guess that is good news. I have actually cooked at least 5 nights a week since we've been back - and it's all been edible. Actually, I have to say that I've done quite well seeing as I haven't really had to cook on a regular basis for almost 2 years! Hope all is going well for those in the states. Miss you guys and I'll keep you updated on any other news!
